The FTR (force-transducing-rubber) and the force-sensing-resistor are proportional sensors. When force or pressure is applied, the resistance of the sensor will change over a range of meg-ohms to K-ohms. There is a smooth and controlled change in the electrical output when force is applied. When the force or pressure is removed, the sensor recovers. The operating force ranges from 50 - 500 grams. The range can be extended by means of a mechanical actuation system.
