Force-Sensing Resistors - Defined and Uses

The Force-Sensing Resistor is an evolution of the membrane switch using similar manufacturing techniques and principles.

What defines a Force-Sensing Resistor is the unique characteristic of dynamic resistance related to the amount of pressure applied to the device. In general, the more pressure applied to the surface of the sensor, the greater the decrease in resistance. Therefore, they are used for qualitative rather than precision measurements and are currently used in every industry including: medical, automotive, oil and gas, electronics and gaming. It is currently most popular and optimized for use in human touch control of electronic devices.

Sytek is the leading manufacturer of Force-Sensing resistors in Canada. We are constantly expanding the potential of this innovative technology thanks to our collaboration with Franklin Eventoff, owner of Sensistronics LLC who invented the Force-Sensing Resistor.
